Scope of Offerings
Alaska Virtual Academy offers the K12 curriculum. It is designed for K-8 students and the learning style that works best for them. Alaska Virtual Academy offers a variety of subjects such as; Language Arts/English, Math, Science, History, World Languages, Music, Art.
Assessment
Lessons are followed by assessments, so that students can master a particular area before moving on. This individualized approach means the student can go as fast or slow as needed. The online assessments are integrated with the planning and progress tools, making it easy to find the right pace by subject and to stay on track.
Extracurricular Activities & Events
Alaska Virtual Academy offers a variety of extracurricular activities. John Gutman said that the school offers online clubs, they are: Lego, Foreign Language, Music, 4H and Chest. The school also offers events to connect the virtual school community. They are offered either online or face to face. They offer school outings, picnics and field trips. Currently on their website there are no events scheduled.
